A most warm welcome to the Abington Baptist Church into our regional family. Pastor Mark McDowell and the church family recently joined the fellowship of the Central Union Association.

Summer Baptisms

Love Unlimited held a baptismal service and church picnic at the home of Mark and Susan Mahserjian-Smith.  A total of 6 people made public professions of faith in Jesus and were baptized in their swimming pool. It was wonderful working with Pastor Willie Anderson and Co-Pastor Dorothy Anderson as well as Minister Curley Jett for the service. Following all the recent rain, the pool water was a little cool but that did not prevent people from following Jesus instructions to repent and be baptized.

It was an especially significant service for Mark as he got to baptize his son Zach, son-in-law John, and grandson Tristan. How nice that the pastoral leadership team of Love Unlimited allowed Mark to be a part of this very special day in the life of their church and in the lives of each one of these disciples of Jesus.

Play Ball

Mark Mahserjian-Smith writes:

Each year in August the Leadership Learning Community (LLC) I belong to goes to a baseball game. We have been visiting a different baseball stadium each year and this year we travel to Boston to watch the Red Sox play in Fenway Park. It was a beautiful day for an afternoon baseball game. It was a very fun day checking in with one another on the way to the game as well as laughing and having a blast watching the game.

We traveled to Connecticut on Wednesday night and crashed at a friend of Dave Klock’s home. We were all very grateful for their hospitality. From there we traveled to Boston for the game. It really was a memorable day being with these great partners in ministry.

ACTS Graduate

Congratulations to Derek Wolfe as he graduated from the Academy of Christian Training and Service (ACTS) with his Diploma in Certified Lay Ministry. Reverend Ruth S. Moore, Dean of Advancement, presented the award. Thanks to his Pastor Gary Firster for his encouragement and guidance, and for hosting the graduation ceremony at Derek's home church, Colonial Park Baptist Church in Harrisburg, PA. Thanks, too, to his wife Lisa who supported Derek throughout the 2 year process by taking on additional responsibilities in the home. And thanks to his mentor Rev. Gary S. George who played a major part in helping Derek understand his spiritual gifts! We are excited to hear what Derek will do next! Congratulations from your ACTS family!

Amazing Time at the 2018 AB Mens Retreat

About 130 men from across Delaware and Pennsylvania attended the 2018 AB Men's Event.  The Keynote Speaker this year was Rev. Chuck Stecker, the Executive Director and Founder of A Chosen Generation.   Pastor Chuck delivered a number of powerful messages challenging the men at the retreat to live out their faith.   Rev. CG Coats led the praise band who helped lead the group in times of worship and song.   Throughout the weekend there were powerful testimonies offered along with stirring devotionals and inspirational special music.
One high light of the event was Kylie West (Calvary Baptist Church, Newark DE) receiving the Men of the Year award for his outstanding Christian service and witness.
It was an amazing weekend.   You can view pictures and videos on the AB Men's Facebook Page  or on the ABCOPAD Facebook Page.
