2015 Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church

The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Rev. Rodney Smalls pastor. The congregation was celebrating their Family and Friends Sunday. tt was a very exciting and energetic service. Along with visiting with Pastor Rodney it was great connecting with my dear friends Rev. Calvin and Verna Edmunds, former minister at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Altoona. Macedonia is considering joining the Harrisburg Association and the ABCOPAD family.

2015 Rev Tim Spring 25th Anniversary

North Hills Community Baptist celebrated Rev Dr Tim Spring's 25th Anniversary of ministry at the church. Rev. Dr Frank Frischkorn had the opportunity to bring the message for the morning (letting Tim enjoy the Sunday of worship with his wife, Pauline) and the youth group shared a video of thanks for Pastor Tim's ministry. A special Children's Sermon using Pastor Tim's hands as the illustration was enjoyed by all. The morning ended with a time of fellowship with cake and punch in the church's new cafe. An encouraging morning with a congregation that was thrilled to look back but also anxious to see where God is going to take them in the years to come!

2015 FBC Punxsutawney 175th Anniversary

The 175th anniversary celebration of the First Baptist Church of Punxsutawney! It was great morning both at Sunday School as well as worship. Rev. Mark Mahserjian-Smith brought a message of both encouragement and challenge as this congregation "moves forward" in ministry.

Boy Scouts at Bethel Baptist

Jeff Johnson, ABCOPAD Regional Pastor with Congregations, filled in for Rev. Don Walls, interim at Great Bethel Baptist in Uniontown, PA, due to being ill. As part of the service, Jeff got the opportunity to recognize, one Boy Scout to another, Evan Klatt, a senior in Uniontown High School, who has earned his rank of Eagle Scout upon the completion of his project.

After the church service was over, the congregation gathered out in front of their building to raise the American flag on the pole and monument that Evan had constructed in honor/memory of Great Bethel veterans. In Great Bethel's case, that includes soldiers who fought in the American Revolution since the church was founded in 1770, the oldest Baptist church of any type of Baptist west of the Allegheny Mountains. Jeff's wife Karen led the gathered in singing our national anthem.

Here are Evan and Jeff, who is sporting his own Boy Scout medals from when he was in scouting more years ago than he wants to count.

A few weeks later, Eric was awarded the rank of Eagle at a Court of Honor. Congratulations!

Prayer and Revival Conference

Jeff Johnson, ABCOPAD Regional Pastor with Congregations, spent Saturday at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Norristown, PA participating in the finale to their week long Prayer and Revival Conference. The senior pastor is the Rev. Bryon Craig, a graduate of Eastern Theological Seminary, who participated with his church leaders in our region's co::lab experience last year. This event was an implementation of their vision to make disciples that impact their community and the world for Christ. It was a great day of preaching missional ministry as well presenting actual missional ministry in which the church is involved. It was amazing to see how God wove together all the messages of the speakers, of whom Jeff was one, who had no prior knowledge of what each was going to share.
