Let's Just Praise The Lord!

At the Second Baptist Church of Erie, Rev. Lamont Higginbottom delivered a powerful message from 1 Corinthians 13, explaining that authentic churches are marked by their capacity to love, even when love is challenging. It was a timely and important message. The Praise Team at Second Baptist is also outstanding, doing a great job leading morning worship!

Anchors Aweigh!

The Southwest Associations (Monongahela, Pittsburgh, and Ten Mile Associations) came together for a Gateway Clipper Lunch 2-hour cruise! Weather was perfect and was a great turn out for the event!! There were 28 in attendance, as all 3 associations were represented. We enjoyed a buffet lunch, time to "catch up" with each other or get to know one another. Then following lunch we could move around the ship to enjoy the gorgeous scenery of Pittsburgh and continue the laughter and conversation.

Old Preachers Never Die...

Old Preachers never die -- they just go out to pastor!

The congregation at Wesleyville Baptist Church in Erie recently gathered to acknowledge the retirement of Pastor Mark McCallion. A wonderful celebratory dinner was held, followed by a number of members and dignitaries speaking. First Lady Eva was presented with a bouquet of fresh flowers, while a Certificate of Appreciation to was given to Pastor Mark, our current region president. Mark has occupied the pulpit for many years of in the local church... 25 at Wesleyville! Jeff Johnson presented him with a set of PA and DE cufflinks made from gold and silver commemorative quarters. (Pastor Mark has ALWAYS been known for being a VERY dabber and snappy dresser!) Others shared too from both the church and the community like their son James as well as the former pastor of Linesville, Art Barnes, and the local funeral director.

The mayor of Wesleyville declared by proclamation that Sunday was Mark McCallion day. The church presented him and Eva with a plaque. It was a VERY special day for ALL in attendance.

Play Ball '22

Mark Mahserjian-Smith writes:

Recently, our LLC team traveled to New York City to attend a Yankee’s game. We rendezvoused at FBC Bethlehem and Pastor David Hardin drove us to Newark, NJ, where we caught the subway into the city.

We arrived early enough to spend time at the 9-11 Memorial at the World Trade Center. Most of us had never been there before. Being at the site where so many lost their lives and our world changed forever caused all of us to be contemplative and thoughtful.

Everyone survived this trip with only a few hiccups (apparently, there was some confusion around lunch). In all seriousness, it was great to spend the day with friends.

Showers of Blessing

Ten people from Forest Baptist Church were baptized in the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. On the bank of the river, standing in the pouring rain, were 40+ encouragers, church family members and prayer warriors who have stood behind and beside these believers, and have committed to keep doing so.

Pastor Sue Wilson-Radel reports: "Of those baptized, three were new believers in our youth group, and one child who may look young, but knows more about Jesus and the Word of God than many adults."
