Springfield Baptist Work Of Grace Ministry

Work of Grace Poster

‘Work of Grace’ is a ministry that directly affects the well-being and spiritual condition of impoverished children. Many children originate from minority and bi-racial biological parents. Nearly all of the children in the social work system come from addicted-adjudicated-dysfunctional-impoverished family systems. In Delaware County, PA the Social Work system does an adequate job of training and vetting potential foster parents. However, there is a dearth of support group ministries specifically designed to help parents with the on-going, stressful emotional and spiritual challenges that foster parenting engenders. Parents often feel inadequate for the life they’ve chosen, and are in deep need of emotional and spiritual support. When parents feel they are fully equipped and supported the home life they are able to provide for their foster children is greatly enhanced. This grant request underwrites the vision we have for a start-up ministry at Springfield Baptist Church.

Deacon Jim & Amie Cannon are the hosts for this wonderfully supportive and spiritual ministry. We request the larger ABC family to undergird this ministry in prayer.

IM Consultant Walter White at Springfield BC

On Sunday Jan. 19th,

Rev. Walter White, International Ministries Global consultant, who ministers by teaching and training teams who work with historically underserved religious groups. He also teaches and trains international partners, including development workers, pastors and local leaders to be more effective in communicating the Good News of Jesus Christ. From his many years of experience, Walt has been developing and teaching new material to help workers identify their own world views and their limitations and to break out of those limits to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  [ ]

ABWM Ministry and Bell Choir at FBC Mansfield

American Baptist Women
Are helping
Head Start Families, the Homeless Shelter,
And our shut-in’s and Caregivers
The American Baptist Women of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield have been busy collecting things for 2 small Head Start families in the Mansfield area. We were given these two families and a list of possible items for the families. Most of the items on the lists were purchased and Donna Cummings, from Head Start, picked them up at the church on December 20th and delivered them to the families. She later wrote saying: ”Many thanks to you and the members of the Baptist church for the Christmas gifts for my Head Start families. There were lots of smiles from the parents as I delivered the goodies.” First Baptist also provided bags of non-perishable food items for these families for the Christmas holidays.
First Baptist Church has also helped out at the Homeless Shelter several times providing the evening meal. Just before Christmas three frozen main dishes were provided by the church family for the shelter to use over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weeks. We will be providing another complete meal at the end of January.

Each Year the American Baptist Women take goody baskets to our shut-in’s, nursing home members, and also to the Caregivers at the Green Home, Broad Acres and to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. It is our way of making their Christmas brighter.

Mansfield Community Bell Choir

The Mansfield Community Bell Choir used their bell ringing skills to perform twice during the Christmas holiday Season. They first performed at the Women’s and Men’s Chorus concert on December 11th at the First Baptist Church in Mansfield and then again on December 14th at the “Lessons and Carols” service at St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield. The group is made up of members from the communities of Mansfield, Wellsboro, Covington, and the surrounding area. They have been practicing with Mitchell Sensenig at the First Baptist Church in Mansfield for several months. Mitchell is a Mansfield University Student in Music. Bell Choir will resume sometime in February. For further information on future opportunities to join this group, please call First Baptist Church after February 1st at 570-662-7862.
The Hand bells were originally donated to the First Baptist Church by Bertram and Maurine Frances. Bertram was a retired Mansfield University professor in the Music department and he and Maurine loved music. First Baptist Church is honored to have these bells and that they are being used “for the Glory of God.”
