ZOOM Security - FAQ

Mark Mahserjian-Smith writes:

Most of you are aware ABCOPAD has been using Zoom for its online meetings for the last couple of years. Over the last few days, I have received a number of questions asking if Zoom was safe to use. Just this past January we started using Zoom for our online ACTS Educational Ministry and we continue to use Zoom for our online meetings across our Region. Recently issues regarding Zoom security were brought to light. Zoom bombing, with people hacking into meetings and displaying inappropriate content and shouting profanities during private meetings were brought to public attention. Questions regarding Zoom's security were raised. Since then, Zoom has taken significant steps to make its service more secure. Founder and Zoom CEO, Eric S. Yuan posted a detailed message on their Zoom Blog accepting responsibility for the security issues and outlining steps to make Zoom more secure. Below is the link.

I am grateful Zoom has taken steps to correct the security issues. All Zoom users need to be sure they are using the current version of Zoom and are taking the necessary steps to have secure online meetings. I am including links to a number of support pages explaining how to create a secure meeting. ABCOPAD staff will be doing all we can to ensure secure meetings via Zoom. Thank you for your continued efforts to use technology in your ministry in the midst of this pandemic. Blessings. M
