WELCOME! Love Unlimited

Welcome to the ABCOPAD Family!

The Northumberland Baptist Association voted to accept a new congregation into the fellowship. Love Unlimited, currently meeting at FBC Williamsport, received a unanimous vote to become a congregation in the Northumberland Baptist Association. It was a great day.

ECBC Reception for Alan Selig

What a happy day at Exton Community Baptist Church -- not because Pastor Alan Selig is leaving, but because we appreciate him so much!  There were some tears during the service, of course, but the reception afterwards was one of many smiles.

You can see more at a new page on ECBC's website. It's called "Reception for Pastor Alan". Those who were not able to attend will get a taste of the event, and those who were there can still taste the beautiful cake (I believe!) [Janine Clay]

Linesville Baptist Church ------            Retirement Celebration

Jeff Johnson attended the farewell service, fellowship dinner, and sharing time for Rev. Art and Kristy Barnes of the Linesville Baptist Church in northwest PA. He has served that church for nearly thirty years. After preaching his last sermon during the morning service, his family; immediate and extended closed things out by singing a special song for the occasion. Everyone then recessed into the fellowship hall for an amazing and abundant dinner. After eating, everyone went back into the sanctuary to reminisce and sharing their thanks for the couples years of ministry. Several speakers had been pre-selected, such as Jeff, representing our regional family. After taking a few weeks off, Pastor Art will begin working with Jeff and the churches in the co::lab experience, having led his own church through the process in 2013.

Here is the pic of the lay leadership presenting Pastor Art and Cristy a gift from the church.

Pastor Art and Kristy on the sofa, hearing reminisces from Pastor Bill Minser, former pastor of FBC, Meadville and convener of the Barnabas Group, a clergy peer group in the northwest of which Pastor Art has been a member for two decades. Pastor Bill flew in from Madison, Wisconsin for the occasion.

Pastor Art and Kristy on the sofa with words of thanks being shared in the forefront by their minister of worship and music, Pastor Terry and his wife Joy. In the background is present associate, Pastor Joel who will become the new senior pastor this week.

Pastor Art and Kristy being thanked by their three sons, Christopher, Matthew, and Michael who grew up in Linesville. Michael surprised his parents by flying in from Nashville where he leads a nationally known Christian rock band, RED. Matt leads the praise team at Linesville. Chris does the same at another church in the area.

Against The Flow in Williamsport

At Calvary Baptist Church in Williamsport, Rev. Eric Kraihanzel, our Regional Pastor for Student Ministries, was leading another "Against The Flow" event for teens through the north central part of the region. Six congregations participated. Their time together included worship, testimonies, break-out sessions, service projects in the community, games, and lots and lots of food! These two-day gatherings are to help teens go against the flow of worldly values and strive to put Christ at the center of their lives.

Here are the youth and their leaders making clay pots as part of their learning experience based on Isaiah 64:8 and Jeremiah 18

Honoring Pastor Jack Race

Clifford Baptist Church recently honored one of their former pastors, Jack Race. They gathered to celebrate his service to the church and community. They also dedicated a stained glass window in his honor. Congratulations, Jack!

Of interest --- After an exciting career flying dozens of different aircraft to destinations as near as midwestern cornfields and as far as Middle Eastern deserts, veteran aviator Jack Race tells of his unique experiences in I’ll Fly Away, an engaging biography written with acclaimed novelist William Hallstead. From his adventures flying for the Allies in World War II to his work as head pilot trainer for Ariana Afghan Airlines, Race has logged more than six decades in the air. I’ll Fly Away tracks his travels around the globe, encompassing his post-war job as crop duster and bush pilot, his thirty-four years as a commercial airline pilot for Pan American World Airways, his consultancy to King Hussein for Royal Jordanian Airlines, and the eight years in which he served as lead pilot for Orbis, an eye hospital on wings that served thirty-one countries. In 1989 Race notably retraced Charles Lindbergh’s 1927 20,000-mile goodwill tour, flying his Spirit of Orbis biplane to all forty-eight of the continental U.S. states.

2015 Pastor and Laity Conference

The Discipleship and the Holy Spirit Conference has begun in Milton, PA. It's been a great time of fellowship, worship, inspiration, and encouragement.

The pastors had three service projects today in Milton. The first group here helped with the making of White Cross bandages.

Another group of pastors made up of current and former CLI and current ACTS students helped out the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

The third group helped organize at the Upward Bound Thrift Store.

Willing hands... Servant hearts... Reaching out... A way of life...

Medical Emergency!!!

Relax!!!!

The ABCOPAD Nicaragua Mission Team had some fun after lunch. The guys did a First Aid Clinic, teaching the men of El Socorro some basic medical info for common emergency issue. Eddy, the fireman of our group as well as ER worker, taught the class along with Our team leader, Roberto. The men did great and clearly already know a lot. We laughed and learned together.

The ladies led the VBS this afternoon and had a blast singing, playing games, teaching Bible Stories and coloring with the kids. When both groups were done, we spent time with Isaac, the resident health promoter. Isaac works during the day growing coffee as well as providing medical care for the people of El Socorro. He is a very giving and caring man who often walks for hours to make a house call for those that are ill. It has been an honor serving this great community.

New Praise Band at FBC Woodlawn

Above are a couple of pictures of our praise band that played for the first time on Easter Sunday morning. It went really well! The congregation was very enthusiastic. I've been wanting something like that for a long time--however, God's time is always best. We really didn't have the talent available before, and the congregation probably wasn't ready for it. We had a nice blend of the traditional Easter hymns on the organ and the praise music with the band.  Rev. Howard Irwin

Easter Baptisms at Riverview Baptist Church

We had a wonderful Easter morning service, with a full church and a wonderful Spirit. With the baptisms and the Lord's Supper it was a special day. I believe that this is the first time I have done both in the same service. In Christ, Pastor Bruce.
