Children & Youth Director (Part Time)
Job Description

Ministry purpose: Your role is to provide spiritual, relational, organizational, and administrative leadership and work with the Christian Education Group for children (5 th grade and under) and youth (6 th -12 th grade) at First Baptist Church of Norristown (FBCN). The Children and Youth Director shall seek to foster a strong education program through building relationships with teachers, students, parents, and church leaders that strengthen the students’ commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and resource Children and Youth Ministry Volunteers (this may include planning and participating in trainings at church or with another organization) to help move children and youth forward in their growth and obedience to God
  • Select and adapt biblically-based, age-appropriate curriculum for all children of the church (ages 17 and under)
  • Plan and execute special outreach/fellowship events for children and youth, such as spring and winter events and/or a summer mission trip
  • Meet with other committees as necessary to plan special events
  • Meet with the Pastor 2 times a month and the Christian Education subgroup as often as they meet to collaboratively plan Christian Education for children and youth
  • Report on your work at the quarterly Church Business Meetings
  • Establish and maintain communications with church families and youth via phone, social media, social events, and in person meetups
  • Develop and balance Children and Youth Ministry budget alongside the Christian Education subgroup
  • Enhance a relationship with the Church Nursery School and staff to collaborate on events
  • Maintain volunteers’ child safety clearances and training
  • Enhance a relationship with our region of churches and the youth ministry regional events
  • They will follow all procedures as outlined in the Church’s By-laws.


  • Vital relationship with Jesus Christ
  • A degree, background, or experience in a relevant field of study
  • A sense of call and a passion for working with children and youth and team members
  • Good organizational, teaching, administration, and computer/technology skills
  • An understanding of child and adolescent development and skill level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • In accordance with the vision, philosophy of ministry, and commitments of FBCN

Terms of Service: (about 20 hours / week)

  • Compensation based on experience
