2019 New Pastors Orientation
Nov. 19th at 7:00 pm
Dec. 10th at 7:00 pm
There is a phrase sometimes used in our culture today, “You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know!” On pickyourbrain.com Mike Martel writes: “You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know. The problem is you don’t know what you don’t know. I spent a number of years in the military and we used the saying, “You don’t know what you don’t know” always to remind us that there were things about the situation which we didn’t know. Really though, this has a much deeper meaning. The idea is that there are different levels of understanding. You have to have at least an idea of where you are with a particular subject. Otherwise you will be hit by something unexpected or end up spinning your wheels on a subject where you really don’t know much about.”
Now that you are a local pastor in an American Baptist Church, maybe you have some questions about what resources are available to you. The American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware (ABCOPAD) [maybe you have been wondering what ABCOPAD stands for!] would like to welcome you as a pastoral leader in our region. We are very grateful to have you serving in one of our churches. Perhaps you have already met one or more of the ABCOPAD Staff, or maybe no one has connected with you yet.
We will be holding a New Pastors Orientation over two on-line evening meetings, the first taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 19th at 7:00 pm and the second happening on December 10th, at 7:00 pm. The meetings are designed to introduce you to our ABCOPAD Staff Team and tell you about resources available to you as a pastor in our Region. ABCOPAD through its full time staff, associate staff, auxiliary ministries, on-line communications, grant funds and more provides many valuable resources to help pastoral leaders and congregations.
While we know it would be great if we could meet face-to-face, our hope is an on-line meeting would be more convenient and less challenging to fit into your schedule. We will even be recording the orientation, so if you miss some of the meetings you can watch the video on YouTube.
We know your time is valuable. As a token of our appreciation for participating in the orientation, we have a free book (Canoeing the Mountains, etc.) or an Amazon gift card you can use to purchase a resource of your own choosing!
Please consider signing up for this event by contacting our Regional Administrator, Denise Veselicky, or completing our on-line registration form (below). A link to the first meeting will be sent to you via email. You can contact any Regional Staff member if you have questions. (Link to the staff web page). We look forward to spending time with you, getting to know you, and answering your questions about our Region.
God Bless, Mark
