Feb 2019 Grand Goave Haiti Update
Many of our Mission Partners in ABCOPAD are aware of the current civil unrest and riots taking place in Haiti. Also, if you have served on an ABCOPAD Mission Team to Grand Goave, you have probably spent time with our Haitian Partner Silain “Tiga” Wildolpe. Pastor John Dorean and Jonathan Johnson recently led a Mission Team to Grand Goave. Pastor John received this note from Hope Changes Everything ministries regarding Tiga and a transition taking place that will impact our future mission trips to Grand Goave.
Please keep Tiga and his family in your prayers as they relocate to the US, and please pray for the people of Haiti as they experience this challenging and dangerous situation. Also, be in prayer for the new leaders Renauld "Pastor" Destine and Jean Paul Silain (some of you met them while serving in Haiti). I would also ask you to include Brian and Lynnette Smith (IM Missionaries to Haiti) who hope to move to Haiti soon. The civil unrest will no doubt have an impact on their travel plans. Thank you for your prayers.
God Bless, Mark Mahserjian-Smith

Dear Sponsors and Supporters:
As you learned from the previous email, Haiti is in a season of major political unrest. This upheaval has directly impacted Hope Changes Everything. Many of you know and love Silain “Tiga” Wildolpe, our boots on the ground missionary in Grand Goave. On Thursday evening, Feb.14, an attempt was made on Tiga’s life. He was called to the door of his home by someone pretending to need his help, and when he opened the door, he was greeted by bullets. Miraculously, he was not injured. As a result, Tiga made the very difficult decision to leave Haiti and to seek asylum in the United States for himself and his family.
For the past six years, Tiga has worked tirelessly and passionately to lead Hope Changes Everything. Under his prayerful leadership, we have grown from 7 sponsored children in 2013 to 239 in 2019. We have added a feeding program that feeds in excess of 600 children a day, dug two wells serving hundreds of people as well as renovated one well that serves a school. Tiga has organized dozens of Bible schools and sports camps, and he has organized annual Children’s Day celebrations in January for thousands of children. He has distributed hundreds of Children’s Storybook Bibles, one of only a few resources for children translated into Creole. He led emergency hurricane relief efforts after Matthew that enabled many of us to directly help thousands of his neighbors.
I am happy and excited for Tiga as he embarks on this new journey. I am certain God has a plan, and that Tiga will be used in mighty ways in the future. But I am sad because he cannot lead Hope Changes Everything when he will not be in Haiti. God’s timing is perfect, and, in June, Hope Changes Everything added a wonderful new missionary to our team. He is Tiga’s life-long friend. He has worked alongside Tiga and with our board. We have total confidence that God has been preparing him to lead Hope Changes Everything into the future. His name is Renauld Destine. We call him Pastor. He is kind, compassionate, and just oozes Jesus!! He loves Jesus more than anything and he loves children. He has a wonderful wife whose name is Florence that helps and supports him in all that he is doing. We are very blessed to have them. We are also blessed to have Jean Paul Silain, who has worked with Tiga for years. He is gifted in working with children and is a great asset to our “boots on the ground” team in Haiti.
We ask you to pray for Tiga as he waits for what is next in his journey. The work God has done through him in Grand Goave will have eternal ripple effects, and we will be forever grateful to him and to God for allowing us to work alongside such a wonderful servant of the Lord.
Please contact me or another board member if you have any questions.
