Bulletin Insert for the Recognized Pulpit Speaker Training
Last fall ABCOPAD launched its first Recognized Pulpit Speaker Course. Nearly 40 students registered for the class. By the end of the 6-week course ABCOPAD had about 30 Recognized Pulpit Speakers available to help congregations preach on Sunday mornings when a pastor was unavailable. So many people signed up for the class, we needed to close registration and create a waiting list of those interested in taking the class the next time it was offered. It has been a joy having Recognized Pulpit Speakers anxious and ready to serve congregations whose pastor was on vacation or in need of a sick day as well as speakers who could fill in following a pastor's retirement or when a pastor transitioned to a new ministry, all of these leaving the pulpit open on a Sunday morning.
Once again, ABCOPAD staff in conjunction with our Academy for Christian Training and Service (ACTS) will offer its second 6-week Recognized Pulpit Speaker Training Program. This 6-week course, being taught on-line starting Tuesday, September 22 and continuing on Tuesday nights through October 27th, will provide basic pulpit supply training for those interested in preaching at churches in ABCOPAD. Each on-line class will be 2 hours and taught by pastoral leaders in our Region. The class is limited to the first 20 registrants.
Below is the class outline with instructors: All classes 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This class will require all students to participate in all six classes along with preparing and presenting two sermons that will be recorded by the student and evaluated by an experienced pastoral leader in ABCOPAD. Students must complete all 6 classes. One absence is permissible with the class being made up via watching a recording of the class. If more than one class is missed the student can consult with the leadership team regarding extenuating circumstances and the need to make up a second class.
The cost of the program is $100.00 with $50.00 scholarships being made available through an ABCOPAD grant.
Registration and on-line payment via the ABCOPAD web site.
It is our hope that former and current Sunday School Teachers, Educators or those feeling a call to preach will consider taking this new and exciting 6-week course. This is a great way to help churches in your association or just help your pastor when the pastor is away on vacation or in need of a Sunday off. Contact any of our ABCOPAD Regional Pastors if you have questions. We look froward to having you participate in our Recognized Pulpit Speaker Training Program this September. God Bless.
