2018 Winter Grants
Right now it's a little hard to think of winter even if you like winter as much as I do. It's almost 80 degrees, the humidity is 86%, and while I'm grateful that I don't live in the Carolinas, I am tired of the rain here. These things are just about the weather, and there isn't much we can do about it. The things we can change or improve are the ways that our congregations reach out to new people, disciple the members we already have, minister to youth, and find new opportunities for mission.
Looking at the calendar, it is time to start thinking about winter grants and what your church has been dreaming, hoping, and planning to do with the funds that are available through ABCOPAD. The three grant funds we administer are: the Legacy Fund,Ministries of Christian Discipleship Fund and Release God's Power Fund. If your congregation has committed funds and people resources to a ministry and you find that you need additional funding to make these dreams a reality, now is the time to act. The deadline to turn in the grant applications to one of the Regional Pastors is Wednesday, October 31, 2018.The Mission Allocation Committee will bring their recommendations to the ABCOPAD Board at their meeting in December.Checks will go out in late December or early January for approved grants.
You will find the guidelines for the grant purposes below along with the applications for each fund.It is helpful to read through the guidelines so that you know which fund is most appropriate for the ministry you have in mind. ALL applications must be typed. Your congregation must (1) have given to Partners in Ministry (our regional offering) last year and currently this year, and (2) have submitted the Cooperating Church Annual Report for 2017. If you have additional questions, please contact one of the Regional Pastors or the Treasurer at email@example.com or 1-800-932-9442.
NOTE: The applications for each of these grant funds are available on this website. These applications are fill-in forms and ALL applications MUST be typed. Each application must be submitted to a Regional Pastor for their recommendation. Applications are not to be submitted to the ABCOPAD administrative offices; they must go through the Regional Pastor in that corridor or the Regional Pastor most closely related to the ministry request.
