Filling A Void In Its Community
No doubt God's ways are far and above our own. How could anyone have known His plan? What was meant for evil, He used for good. (Rom. 8:28) In October 1999 two teenage boys with nothing better to do than get into trouble set fire to a lawn & garden/feed business in downtown Franklin. Two-thirds of the building was destroyed; left remaining was a charred two-story portion of the structure. Why hadn't it all burned? In October 2002 a three-year federal grant from the U. S. Dept. of Education was awarded to The Center for their new Mentor Project. Obtaining this grant was almost a miracle in itself. There were 1,300 nation-wide applicants, from which 120 grants would be awarded; six of these in the state of PA, of which we were one. WOW, talk about blessings from heaven! Space to house this new "Mentor Project" was now needed. What remained of the building and its surrounding property had sat vacant and untouched for 3 years, but God had a plan for it's use; and it was all in His timing. Renovations began just before Christmas on this old feed mill building, soon to be called the new "360° Mentor Center." The inside was once blackened with soot, but soon the light of the Lord will shine from within. The building is located in one of the worst neighborhoods in Franklin; God placed this Center right where it was needed most. Soon it will be a light shining in the dark on the front lines of Satan's territory. It will be kids like the ones who set fire to that building that will now benefit from it. No doubt, God is in the midst of this, and His ways are far and above our own! The History: The Literally hundreds of individuals, churches, organizations, groups and associations have been involved in a variety of supportive partnerships and ministry relationships in order to reach hundreds of children, youth and adults through the caring ministries of the Center. Please consider sending financial support directly to the Center. If you belong to an American Baptist Church, you may wish for your church treasurer to send contributions through the monthly ABC mission remittance form. You will be blessed by hearing the story and by supporting this wonderful ministry. Stephen J. "Steve" Osgood
