Meets New Area Minister

Checking out the new guy.  That was the primary focus of the Centre Association clergy gathering held on January 11th at the Logan Valley Baptist church.   Clergy and church members from all over the association came together at 6:00 pm to enjoy a delicious meal and spend some time getting to know the new Area Minister, Rev. Mark Mahserjian-Smith.  Rev. Bob Coddington and wife Janet, along with Pastor Eleanor Siegrist coordinated and hosted the event. Representative for almost every church in the association attended.  After dinner, Mark answered question asked by the group.  The meeting was fun with plenty of opportunities for laughter.  After a time for Q & A by Mark, each church family in the association shared what was happening in their local church ministry.  It was clear by the end of the night there was much to celebrate including many churches currently doing new membership classes, student ministry events and outreach programs into their communities.  There were also challenges to ministry expressed as many communities in the association are experiencing difficult economic times.  There was agreement among many in the group that gatherings like this need to take place more often in the coming year.
