In addition to your faithful giving to United Mission, there are a number of other ways to target your giving in mission support. Below you will find a number of significant ministries in our regional family of ABCOPAD that can benefit from your gifts on Line 9/Specifics of the monthly remittance form submitted by your Church Treasurer. Perhaps one or a number of them will touch your heart with a call from the Spirit to give?.

Current Possible Targets

Area Ministry...
Our Executive Minister and Area Ministers serve as missionaries to the churches of our region, assisting local congregations through pastoral care, resources in church growth, and training in evangelism and discipleship. In addition, Area Ministers come alongside congregations to aid them in the process of searching for new pastoral and staff leadership.

Evangelism and Church Growth...
As a part of our denominational vision known as New Life 2010, our region is committed to planting 50 new congregations in the next ten years, as well as winning 50,000 people to Christ during the same time period. Creative ministries like the one taking place at the Lackawanna County Prison with Anna Young, are helping each of us to see this challenge to New Life in a New Way! Your financial support of these goals would be most helpful in bringing that vision to reality.

The Church Leadership Institute...
Our region has been blessed with the ministry of the Church Leadership Institute in recent years. A growing number of laypersons throughout our regional family have answered the call to broaden their service for the King through options offered by CLI, extending from Personal Enrichment to Certified Lay Ministry preparation. Through this program, lives have been touched, church ministries have been revolutionized, and the Kingdom of God has been advanced. In addition, CLI has been influential in sponsoring continuing education events not only for their own graduates, but also for the other pastoral leaders of the region. Currently there are three ministries in place: the Church Leadership Institute of Western Pennsylvania and the Church Leadership Institute of Northeastern Pennsylvania, with a new site in Harrisburg at the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Christian Centers...
Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving encouragement to the hopeless... all are part of the ministry that the Lord calls us to as His People. Here in our region we are blessed to have two different Christian Centers addressing the needs of the hurting in our communities. The French Creek Christian Center and the Rankin Christian Center offer a 'cup of cool water in the name of the Lord' to those in their community who often have nowhere else to turn, and for their ministry we say, "Thank you, Lord"

Camping and Conferencing...
Having a chance to experience the beauty of God's Creation in an atmosphere of Christian love and instruction has been the recipe that has won countless lives to Jesus Christ throughout the years, and this has made Camping and Conferencing a vital part of our region's evangelistic and discipleship efforts. A number of camping programs exist in our region: Camp Judson, Laurel Highlands Baptist Camp, Camp Carmel, North Country Baptist Camps, and all can benefit from your prayerful and financial support.

Youth Ministry and Area-wide Retreats...
Many would agree with the statement that the youth are the future of our churches, and a fresh wind is blowing in the churches of our region as invigorated youth and young adult ministries are being developed. Through Area-wide youth retreats and groups such as North Country Baptist Youth Ministries, young people are being won to Christ and challenged to a deeper walk with the Lord.

American Baptist Women's Ministries/American Baptist Men's Ministries...
Fellowship... Discipling... Disaster Relief Trailer... Conferences and Retreats, are just a few of the vital resources that these auxiliary organizations provide for the women and men of our regional family.

Mission Work and Discovery Tours...
Nothing will enflame the heart with the fires of mission more than a trip to see what the Lord is doing through the ministry of our missionaries both here at home as well as abroad. In recent years our region has sponsored a growing number of trips to various parts of the world, and plans are in place to expand this ministry even more.

ABCOPAD Minister's Council...
Providing support and encouragement and resources for the pastoral leaders of our region is the chief task of the Minister's Council.
