Monday Jan. 18th
The ABCOPAD Galveston Mission Team departed the Pennsylvania Ice Box on Sunday, Jan. 17th from the Philadelphia Airport at 1:45 pm. The group of volunteers came from all over the Region. Some of the communities represented include members from Kittanning, Milton, Tioga, Hatboro, Transit, Upper Merion, Montandon, Greenville, Star Junction, Bethlehem and White Hall. Joining the ABCOPAD Mission team were members of the Grace Baptist Church of Bluebell Mission team. 32 member in all left Philadelphia for Houston, TX. Despite a very busy and crowded Philly International Airport the group made it successfully through check in and security in time to board the plane and enjoy an uneventful flight. For a number of members of the trip, this would be their first time flying. After arriving in Hobby Airport the team rented vehicles and made their way to island of Galveston, TX. Meeting the mission team were Pastors Tim and Jenn Schwartz, Galveston Disaster Relief Coordinators and dear friends of our Region. An evening meal of pizza at CiCi's Restaurant left everyone's stomachs full of pizza and ready for bed. First there was a shopping excursion at Wal-Mart to purchase supplies and groceries for Monday. The group gathered together at the church where they would be sleeping throughout the week. A short time of devotion and getting acquainted ended the night with team members retiring to cots to sleep. Monday morning included a quick breakfast and then off to work at various work sites throughout Galveston. More about the work completed on Monday tomorrow. Thank you for your continued prayers, Mark
