Friday the entire team was anxious to return to their work sites knowing the time to complete the projects were growing short.  Tasks started at the beginning of the week now had only hour left to bring to completion.  The team working the on the parsonage hung the last few sheets of drywall on the ceiling, having installed the subfloor throughout the house and insulation in the exterior wall.  Another team finished their daily routine of "taped, mudded, sanded" getting a home ready for painting.  The team working at Mary's home completed their painting, including an extreme room makeover, turning Mary's bedroom from a place of chaos and a constant reminder of Hurricane Ike's devastation into a place of peace and a place of rest.  One two man team finished the installation of a bathroom vanity while another two man team finalized the installation of carpeting in a home.  The group that had worked throughout the week at the church cleaning, installing carpet and painting began putting in down baseboard.  A group doing finish work for Joe and Gloria were working hard to put the finishing touches on their home, allowing Joe and Gloria to leave behind their FEMA trailer and return to their house.  Also on Friday a visitation team were escorted by Pastor Jenn Schwartz to do visitation with those who needed a visit.  By the time work crews returned to the church there was a deep sense of pride know so much had been accomplished in a few short days and many families had been helped however there was also the realization there was still much work to be done.

To provide a break to the ream who had been preparing meals all week the group enjoyed dining out and then a closing worship service.  The Mission Team along with member of the church family gathered in the sanctuary for a time of praise and singing.  Pastor Dave Cox offered a closing message followed by Pastor Bob Ayars closing the worship service with Communion.  It was easy to see the presence of Jesus had been with us throughout the week as well as with us in the midst of worship.  Bonds of friends had been forged during the week that would remain strong for years to come.

Some team members retired to bed, exhausted after a long day of work while other chose to stay up long into the wee hours of the morning knowing this would be the last the team would be together, by morning, everyone was up, scurrying around the church packing and cleaning.  By 7:30 am the group was ready to depart, but not before hearing an original song written by two members of the team, as this is being written, we at cruising high above the earth, winging our way back to chilly PA, having been warmed by both the warm Galveston sun but even more by Jesus love as it was poured out upon us during this opportunity to serve.
