ABMOPAD Disaster Relief Teams Called To Help Hurricane Victims

 

 

The Spring-Ford Flood relief Committee was formed after the mid-west floods in 1993 and continues to serve disaster victims through long term help in rebuilding their homes after a disaster.

The Chainsaw will be used for hurricane relief.

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
 
  The following is an update on ABMOPAD Disaster Mission Trips. Thank you for your support.  At the present time we are planning on having 3 teams in the field.  The first date for departure will be Saturday, November 5. Our debarkation point will be the First Baptist church of York, and this will be an 8 personteam.  We will return November 19, 2005.  Bob Swan will be the team leader (215-674-1935) 
  The next team departure date is November 26, 2005, thru December 10, 2005.  The team leader will be Bob Singley 610-872-8580.
  The third team, date to be determined.  It has been suggested that a group wants to be on site during Christmas week.  If you are interested, contact Bob Swan, 215-674-1935 or e-mail Swantown@aol.com.
  The assigned work area is Wiggins, MS.  We will now be housed at the Methodist Church, 520 S. Pine Ave, Wiggins, MSD 39677.  The Pastor is Rev. Larry white.  We will be sleeping in their fellowship hall.  They will supply air mattresses and cots. Bring sleeping bags, clothes, toiletries - your personal needs. It has been suggested long pants, light shirts, The weather is still warm.  Bring a jacket if the weather change, gloves, heavy shoes.  there are showers for both women and men.
 
  We will be doing our own cooking in the church kitchen. Don't forget bug spray or repellent. ABM will provide a hat.
  Please look at your calendar and let us know the date that you are available, we will try to work you into a team.

ABMOPAD Disaster Relief is called to the field:

ABMUSA disaster relief teams are under the direction of Royce Jones, our National Director, and are on site presently in Wiggins, MS. It is now time for the churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware to roll up our shirtsleeves and replace the disaster teams that are rotating out of Wiggins. Bob Swan, director of disaster relief for ABMOPAD has asked churches that have interested workers, men and women, to contact him at 215- 674-1935, e-mail Swantown@aol.com or any of the persons listed below:

The average commitment will be ten days to two weeks. Wiggins, MS is approx 1,200 miles from our area. You should consider 2 days travel each way. Due to the size of our region, we will try to develop travel teams in at least 4 areas. This will be based on responses by October 24th. Please give us the dates of your availability, location and number of workers. We will be housed and fed at the Wiggins Sr. High School. Items to bring air mattresses, sleeping bags etc. this is not the Hilton Hotel or resort.

Groups will travel at their own expense. Based on our limited disaster funds, we will assist on funds for fuel.
