Help In The Storm - Economic Crisis Relief

ABCOPAD recognizes we are in the midst of a very difficult economic crisis. Many churches in our region are ministering to people who have lost their jobs, experienced struggle with the down turn in the stock market (dwindling retirement funds) or issues surrounding mortgages and the housing market. As a result, many of our churches in the midst of increasing ministry needs, have fewer resources to work with due to cut backs in donations and contributions.
In an effort to assist not only our Regional Churches but also individuals in ABCOPAD, this web page is dedicated to offering solutions in the midst of the crisis. It is our hope individuals and church families will submit ideas, programs and testimonials, sharing what is working in their congregation to help others during this troubled time. As articles and messages arrive, they will be posted on the web page along with any contact information provided.
It is our hope that as we partner together as the family of God we will be able to weather this difficult economic storm.

ABC-USA Offers Help To Churches During The Economic
ABCUSA Creates Forum for Sharing Resources on Economic Distress (Recent ABC-USA Article)
Recognizing that American Baptists and their congregations are feeling extraordinary economic challenges, an ad hoc group of national and regional executives of the denomination are creating an electronic forum for sharing ideas, strategies, and resources on how to cope creatively.
The new Web site can be accessed by any and all American Baptists at www.abc-responds-economy.ning.com.
"The 'ning' part of the Web site has interactive features that allow not only searches and submissions, but also conversations, questions and responses, and evaluative feedbacks," explained C. Jeff Woods, associate general secretary of ABCUSA and the main developer of this new Web instrument.
The idea is as old as the New Testament, when the Apostle Paul encouraged the early Christians and the early Christian churches to help each other, especially when in distress and tribulation. Only the technology has been updated!

Pastor Messinger purchases 100 books, "The Treasure Principle: Discovering the Secret of Joyful Giving" by Randy Alcorn (about a dollar a piece) and gave them to church members. Since then the church family has experienced a better understanding of stewardship and blessings from God. |

Calvary Baptist Church discontinued its bulletin service to save money. The Sunday Bulletin is printed on regular paper, however students in Pete's church submit drawings that are used for the bulletin cover. On some Sundays, Pete uses a passage of scripture taken from "The Message" instead of a drawing. This has been a big hit at Calvary. |
During this time of Economic Crisis, it might be helpful to do some teaching on the importance of stewardship
