FBC Dover

Recently, Jeff Johnson visited the First Baptist Church of Dover, Delaware. We began the morning with a combined adult Sunday school class that I taught. The worship service was a great time of praise and prayers, with the preaching leading to an invitation at the end that saw the front of the sanctuary filled with people, kneeling, sitting, standing, all praying to God for their own needs and/or those of others.

Following the service, a number of leaders regathered in the fellowship hall for me to share with them four 1st century values that should be present in our 21st century churches, encouraging the leaders to do an alignment process with pre-existing ministries of the church, introduce new ministries where gap are found, and even consider sun-setting ministries which no longer serve the church's greater vision.

Great friends gathered for the Abington Association Spring meeting. The meeting was held at the First Baptist Church of Abington in Waverly.

Association President Minister Valerie June Black (Shiloh Baptist) led the meeting

Pastor Deborah Loessy (FBC Factoryville) Association Treasure was super kind in explaining ABCOPAD’s our PIM offering and taking up a collection.

Mark Mahserjian-Smith and Tim Schwartz were asked to share about ABCOPAD’s current disaster relief efforts following a challenging 2017 hurricane season.

2018 Bradford Association

The Bradford Association met at FBC, Gillett. Pastor Micky Cavanaugh and the leadership at Gillett made all feel right at home. Moderator Pastor Ed Zinser led the meeting, with Gary Wood giving an update on the ministry of the ABMen disaster relief trailer in Texas and Judy Husted bringing an update on the ministry of North Country Baptist Youth Ministries, blessing us with a few Camp songs on her ukulele. A wonderful lasagna supper was shared following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

2018 Pastors Retreat

The ABCOPAD Pastors' Retreat held it’s opening session.

Pastor Frank Frischkorn launched the event with an opening prayer...

followed by a time of praise and worship led by our Praise Band.

Our MMBB Representative Rev. Miriam Peralta brought greeting to the group and shared her passion to serve pastoral leaders especially as they plan for retirement.

The highlight of the evening was Pastor Jeff Johnson conducting the opening session in his buckskin suit looking like a member of the original Lewis and Clark expedition.

A fun evening of learning and interacting.

Centre Association ABWM 2018

The Centre Association AB Women gathered for their annual Spring meeting at Mill Creek Baptist Church. ABCOPAD Vice-President Apryl Glunt led the gathering.

One of the highlights of the Centre Association Women’s gathering was hearing about the various ministries taking place at each church.

The AB Girls of Mill Creek kicked off the time of sharing and talked about some of the ministries they do throughout the year... such as a "Coffee and Prayer Ministry" where the girls set up a roadside stand offering people in the community a cup of coffee and a chance to pray. Many people in Mill Creek take advantage of this ministry.

First Regular Baptist in Huntingdon shared details about a powerful "Backyard Children’s Ministry," as well as a "Blanket Ministry" that provides blankets to those in need. People from the community come to get their blankets but also will “hang out” at the church to visit and receive prayer.

It was a day well-spent, as ministries, encouragement, and fellowship were shared by all.

DaVinci Last Supper

At Moreland Baptist Church, Muncy, the Maundy Thursday service featured a dramatic presentation of the Last Supper as depicted by Leonardo DaVinci. This drama shows various points of view of the final weeks of Christ from each of the 12 disciples. This well-done production is in its 31st year!

A similar depiction was presented at New Covenant Baptist Church, Pottstown

Pete the Pig

At FBC, Berwick, it was Youth Sunday and a “noisy offering” was received in assortment of piggy banks! The children were gathering funds for their “Pete, the Pig Project” to add to the funds they've collected in Sunday School all year for the American Leprosy Missions.
