Happenings at Jefferson Baptist Church
Jeff Johnson spent the morning and into the early afternoon at the Jefferson Baptist Church where John Rich-Dorean is the pastor. Jeff was there to dedicate the newly formed search committee as well as preach the morning message. Jeff emphasized that it is not about seeking for that one right person to be pastor, but rather seeking the face of God who will provide that one right pastor. Pastor John has announced that he will retire next year after 36 years of continuous ministry at this one church. After worship, throughout the Sunday School hour and beyond, Jeff met with the search committee to lay out the process but to emphasize again the necessity of prayer; individually and congregationally. A daughter of the church, Rhetta King Byham was present in the service to present her urban missionary work in the city of Pittsburgh. Jeff played off her presentation by thanking the church for their generous mission support regionally and nationally, supporting the work he as well as the rest of our staff does as home missionaries right here in ABCOPAD and across the ABC.
