FBC McKees Rocks Responds to Shooting
First Baptist of McKees Rocks responded to a youth shooting at their neighborhood school in a creative way.
Authorities are still searching for a gunman who shot a 17-year-old student in the arm in front of Sto-Rox High School as school was letting out for the day Tuesday.
Dr. Doug Baker, interim pastor, provided a copy of the letter which the congregation delivered to the Sto-Rox High School principal. He and their administrator were very appreciative.
Baker said:
"We (the congregation) hope that the words are helpful and supportive and assuring that we are there for them, we pray for them and that God is with them. We hope that the words expressed on the sign will give Sto-Rox students and staff comfort and assurance again of our prayers. We also hope that folks will stop and notice, and hopefully offer their own prayers. We pray that this is a step to other ways we can reach out to the school and the McKees Rocks community, and that they will know we are sincere and that we love them."
