FBC Dover
Recently, Jeff Johnson visited the First Baptist Church of Dover, Delaware. We began the morning with a combined adult Sunday school class that I taught. The worship service was a great time of praise and prayers, with the preaching leading to an invitation at the end that saw the front of the sanctuary filled with people, kneeling, sitting, standing, all praying to God for their own needs and/or those of others.
Following the service, a number of leaders regathered in the fellowship hall for me to share with them four 1st century values that should be present in our 21st century churches, encouraging the leaders to do an alignment process with pre-existing ministries of the church, introduce new ministries where gap are found, and even consider sun-setting ministries which no longer serve the church's greater vision.
