On Sunday, October 25, 2009, Trinity Baptist Church (Scranton) held a Covenant Service Commemorating & Celebrating a Collaborative Partnership for Transformational Interim Ministry. Everyone present enjoyed a wonderful evening of worship and fellowship, and time spent praising God for this new phase in the life of Trinity Baptist Church.
The Rev. Earl Cassell, pastor of the United Baptist Church of Scranton, brought greetings from the Abington Association, as well as a Charge to the Partnership.
Betty Jane Richards and Gloria Seigle, both of Trinity, provided special music, with Edith Seigle accompanying them in sign language. It was a beautiful number.
The Rev. Dr. James Munroe, director of Interim Ministries, ABC-USA, led in prayer, and in the benediction.
The Rev. Richard A. McIntyre, Northeast Area minister, preached on Hebrews 13:15-16. His sermon was titled "Blessing a Beginning."
Everyone present joined together in reading the covenant, which spells out the responsibilities of the people of Trinity, Rev. Foody, the region, and Interim Ministries. Taking her imagery from Joshua 4, Rev. Foody then had everyone place a smooth stone in a large glass vase which will remain in the sanctuary as a reminder to everyone of their covenant responsibilities.
The worship service was followed by a time of fellowship. Rev. Foody did a wonderful job planning the service, and the people of Trinity proved to be gracious and welcoming hosts.
