The Harrisburg Baptist Association meets
as an Ordination Council for Shelly Lewis

The weather outside was challenging,
and so were the questions being asked inside!

On Sunday, March 6th, delegates from the Harrisburg Baptist Association braved the rainy afternoon weather and met at the Martin Luther King Baptist Church to examine Shelly Lewis for Ordination.  Shelly graduated from the Church Leadership Institute Harrisburg-East and then felt called to continue her education at the Lancaster Theological Seminary.  She recently graduated from the Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree, and has felt called into fulltime Christian Ministry.  Her church family at Martin Luther King Baptist Church has affirmed that call, and her Senior Pastor, the Reverend LaVette Paige had the joy of serving as a Mentor for Shelly while she went through her Seminary training.

Reverend Roy Johnsen, Pastor of the Westgate Baptist Church, was the Chairperson of the Association Credentialling Committee, and served as the Moderator for the Council.  Following a time of examination and review, the gathered delgates voted unanimously to encourage the Martin Luther King Baptist Church to proceed with plans to hold a Service of Ordination for Pastor Lewis, and plans are already in place for that service to occur on Sunday, April 10th at 3:00pm.

The church family at Martin Luther King then blessed all those in attendance with a beautiful meal in the church's Fellowship Hall.
