A few pictures from my Chapel talk at Camp Icthus. I spoke on 1 Timothy 4:  11 Command and teach these things.12 Do not let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young. Instead, be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith, and your pure life.

New Southeast Area Minister Called To ABCOPAD

Rev. Kevin Walden & His Wife Melody

Letter From Rev. Frank Frischkorn

March 30, 2010

Greetings in the LORD!

It gives me great pleasure to share with you that the ABCOPAD Regional Board has extended a call to the Reverend Kevin A. Walden to become the new Southeast Area Minister. Reverend Walden is a graduate of Ottawa University and Central Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently completing work on a Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. Kevin and his wife Melody are concluding their ministry at the Miracle Hills Community Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska, where he has served as Senior Pastor since 2003. Prior to being called as Pastor at Miracle Hills, Kevin served in four other pastoral positions in Nebraska and Kansas.

As the search committee recounted the characteristics of Reverend Walden that led to their desire to recommend him, the following were delineated:

  • His deeply committed approach to ministry, and his desire to base his decisions upon God's Call upon his life.
  • His gift mix, as well as his significant experiences in pastoral ministry over his years in Nebraska.
  • His winsome spirit and very clear relational style of ministry—he's a joy to talk to, and the entire committee felt an instant rapport with him.
  • His considerable and wide-ranging experience in regional ministry while a pastor in Nebraska.
  • The strong and consistent references that he received from both colleagues and regional staff members from multiple regions.

Needless to say, life is a whirlwind for Kevin and Melody as they say 'goodbye' to dear friends and make a major move from the Midwest, so I would ask that you please be in prayer for them as they search for a new home and transition to a new life and call here in ABCOPAD. Kevin and Melody are planning to begin their ministry with us in early June, once Melody has completed the school year in Nebraska (where she is employed as a school counselor). I need to add that Kevin is planning to attend the Fanning the Flame event with us at the end of May, so those of you who are attending will have the pleasure of starting to build a relationship with him at Green Lake!

In closing, let me express my thanks to the Southeast Area Search Committee (Mrs. Susan MacDonald –Chair, Reverend Jon Kline-Vice-Chair, Reverend Jeff Collins, Mrs. Jean Munson, Reverend Mardy von Harten and Reverend Robert Zimmerman) for their diligent work throughout the process. God moved in our midst, and we grew in our relationships with one another—all of which made our meetings a joy!

Thanks, as well, to the Reverend Dr. Alan Selig, who has served as Interim Southeast Area Minister. Alan is concluding his ministry with us at the end of March, and I am so grateful for the caring and skillful effort that he has brought to this challenging position. Until Reverend Walden is able to join us in early June, please feel free to direct your Area Ministry needs and concerns to our Administrative Assistant, Carol Bicking at our ABCOPAD Office (1-800-358-6999) and we will work together to serve you.

In the wonder of His Sacrifice for us.  Frank
