Meet Frank Foust. Frank has been using his skill as a wood carver to raise money for missions and to bring comfort to many. Frank makes Comfort Birds. Comfort Birds are small wood carved birds that fit in the palm of your hand. Usually given as a gift to someone in need, Comfort Birds are often offered to the ill, blind or elderly as a token of support and kindness. Comfort Birds become a tangible reminder of both the love of a friend and the love of Jesus. The birds can be gently rubbed, allowing them to bring comfort to those struggling with pain, both physical and emotional.

Frank is a member of the White Hall Baptist Church near Danville, PA and began giving out Comfort Birds when he and his wife Millie would visit the ill and elderly in his church. Later he began selling the birds for $10.00 to those that wanted to give a bird to a family member or friend in need of comfort. Frank donated the $10.00 to missions. Since the beginning of the year, Frank has raised $1005.00 for Haiti Earthquake Disaster Relief. Currently Frank is making birds available to churches to support ABCOPAD’s Partners In Ministry Emphasis.

Here is how it works. A church would order birds from Frank. Frank would send the church family the birds that were ordered. Frank suggests a donation of $10.00 per bird. The church distributes the birds and sends in the proceeds to ABCOPAD through their regular monthly mission remittance. For those familiar with the Mission Remittance Form the contribution total would be included on the Partners In Ministry line. In doing so each church receives mission credit for the contributions raised via the Comfort Birds and our regional ministry is supported. Frank has lots of birds ready for distribution.

At the Northumberland Baptist Association numerous churches took Comfort Birds back to their congregations for distribution.

As a recipient of a Comfort Bird, I have found comfort, joy and peace knowing someone was praying for me as I held the bird in my hand. Below is the contact information for Frank so you can place an order for Comfort Birds. It is a great way to both support Regional Ministry and bring comfort to those that need the love of Jesus in their lives.
