Greetings in the wonderful Name of Jesus!

As we launch out into this New Year that is filled with the promises and provision of God, I am thrilled to announce that our ABCOPAD Regional Board has extended a call to the Reverend Dr. Jeffrey Johnson to become our new Regional Pastor with Congregations!

Jeff is no stranger to ABCOPAD, having grown up at the First Baptist Church in West Newton followed by a long ministry as Senior Pastor at the North Ten Mile Baptist Church in the Ten Mile Association, before moving to West Virginia and then to serve with the American Baptist Home Mission Societies (formerly National Ministries) as National Coordinator of Evangelism and New Church Planting.  Over the years of his work with National Ministries, Jeff has brought his passion for Evangelism and Discipleship to ABCOPAD on a number of occasions throughout the years, serving as a keynote speaker at our Biennial in Erie, workshop leader for a Pittsburgh Baptist Association event on Evangelism a few years ago, as well as being an instructor of the Outreach Course at a number of the Church Leadership Institute sites across the region.

Jeff feels a very strong call to serve with us here in ABCOPAD, and is excited about our new vision and design for regional ministry.  He is anxious to work with congregations throughout the region, as together we seek to build healthy vital partnerships with one another for the cause of Christ, and is anticipating a long and fruitful ministry as a part of the team that the LORD is putting together in our midst.

As you know, a key part of our tri-fold vision is to “…build healthy vital partnerships with our wider ABC Family”, and Jeff’s call to serve with us will do that in a very tangible way in that concurrent with his new position with ABCOPAD, Jeff will continue in his national role as National Coordinator of Evangelism and New Church Planting, much as he did while Senior Pastor at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church.  This will mean that on average 2-3 days a month, he will be in ministry with other regions throughout the country, but that the lion-share of his time and energy will be here in ABCOPAD.

Jeff will be completing his ministry as Senior Pastor at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Hurricane, West Virginia in the coming month, and is planning to join us in ministry in ABCOPAD by late February.  Please do be in prayer for Jeff and his wife Karen and their two children, Jonae and Judson, as they seek to find a home in western Pennsylvania and say ‘goodbye’ to their dear friends in West Virginia.  These coming months of transition will certainly be a challenge to them, but all of us look forward with anticipation to the exciting future that God is orchestrating in our midst!

2011 is a year filled with the promises and provisions of God, and I know that the LORD  has an exciting future for us as we move forward into this new chapter of our regional life together!

Trusting in His Plan and Provision,  Frank
