Adoption Care Update

Hello everyone,

Brent Miller here writing on behalf of our church’s Adoption for Life Ministry (GraceCrossing, ABC-USA in Phoenixville).  I wanted to let everyone know of two great opportunities for our churches to help children waiting for families in Pennsylvania and Delaware.

The first is the Mid-Atlantic Orphan Care Coalition’s 50 Churches 50 Children program.  Several of your churches participated in this last year.  This program runs during National Adoption Month in November and involves having your church pray for four children in the PA and DE foster care system who are waiting for someone to adopt them.  It is a simple program that unleashes the power of prayer to help children find the forever families their hearts desire.  If interested, you can register for this program at http://orphancarecoalition.org/get-involved/.  Someone from the coalition will contact you and send you pictures and profiles of the kids, as well as suggested ways your church can spotlight them and pray for them throughout November.

The second is an exceptional event that Focus on the Family is bringing to our area.  Wait No More is a program designed to help find homes for children in foster care in Pennsylvania.  It’s goal is to find 125 families willing to initiate adoption of a waiting child in the state.  PA currently has almost 1800 waiting children (children who are legally available for adoption) in the foster care system.  God desires to place the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6) and considers pure and undefiled religion to involve the care of orphans (James 1:27).  Ours is a state with 15,000 churches.  The solution is fairly obvious!  When you consider that ABCOPAD alone has 320 churches, it seems evident that we can do our part.  Focus on the Family is therefore holding a conference to help facilitate the adoption of these children on October 29 from 1-5 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Lansdale.   You can also learn more about this event (and the nationwide movement that stands behind it) at www.icareaboutorphans.org. There you can obtain bulletin inserts and posters to help promote this event.

Thank you for considering becoming involved in these programs.  Anything you can do to get the word out would be greatly appreciated, and I am sure God will use it to find homes for all of these kids.  If you want to talk more about these events, learn more about ways the local church can help in orphan care ministry, or talk about adoption, please contact either myself or my wife Megen and we would be happy to talk with you.  You can call at (610) 933-4352 (church).  Our email is www.brentandmegen@verizon.net

Thanks and God bless!
